Troubleshooting During Integration Setup
If teachers and students are reporting trouble signing in, the first thing you should do is confirm that the LTI tool settings look correct.
The launch URLs for our respective products are listed below for reference:
- BrainPOP: https://www.brainpop.com/lti/launch.php
- BrainPOP Jr.: https://jr.brainpop.com/lti/launch.php
- BrainPOP ELL: https://ell.brainpop.com/lti/launch.php
- BrainPOP Science: https://science.brainpop.com/lti/launch.php
For the BrainPOP launch URL, adding "?tool=yes" to the end will enable the topic selector.
The topic selector feature is not available for BrainPOP Jr., BrainPOP Science or BrainPOP ELL, so be sure that your link does not include "??tool=yes".
Make sure there aren't any additional characters or spaces in the launch URLs or the Key and Secret we originally shared with you. If you need to confirm that your Key and Secret are still current, please Contact Us.
If you are using Canvas or Schoology, you can also try deleting the app and reinstalling from the Canvas EduAppCenter or the Schoology App Store.
If our troubleshooting suggestions do not resolve your issue, Contact Us and attach a screenshot of the configuration settings for the LTI app to expedite troubleshooting.
Troubleshooting During Login
As a teacher, you or your students may come across some of the following error messages when signing in using your Learning Management System (LMS).
"Your system is not properly set up for single sign-on with BrainPOP" error message when signing in
This typically means the integration either hasn't been set up for your school or district or the integration has not been applied to your specific user group. Contact your administrator to check whether this is the case.
"This email address is already connected" token prompt when signing in.
If you are a teacher and you have an existing account, you will receive this prompt the first time you log into the LTI tool. Clicking "Send Token" will trigger an email with a unique token that you can enter to log into your account. Before clicking Send Token, make sure you are using your school's preferred method of logging in.
If our troubleshooting suggestions do not resolve your issue, Contact Us and attach a screenshot of the configuration settings for the LTI app and/or the error message you're receiving to expedite troubleshooting.
Frequently Asked Questions
My students are receiving a prompt for a class code when they sign in with our LMS. Is that normal?
This is expected if the student has not yet joined a class or is in no active classes. In order to create a student account the first time, students will need a class code from their teacher. Teachers can create classes by following these steps.
After a student joins their first active class, they can add themselves to additional classes, but they will not be required to enter a class code to log in.
