Flash Words

Flash Words has been retired from BrainPOP ELL and is no longer available. We know this learning activity has been meaningful in many classroom learning experiences. This decision was made as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance and evolve our platform.

To support a smooth transition that ensures continuity of use with BrainPOP, we’ve highlighted some recommended alternatives to help achieve your learning goals and promote student engagement and agency.

Flash Words accompany every BrainPOP ELL lesson. These clickable flash cards feature vocabulary from the movie on one side and a visual representation of the vocabulary on the other.

Each flash card has a word on one side, and an image on the other. The student can flip the cards individually by clicking one card at a time, or as a whole by clicking the blue double arrow icon in the tip corner.

Students can hover their mouse over each word to hear the word read aloud. 

In Level 1, each lesson has 12 new words.
In Levels 2 and 3, each lesson has 15 new words. In addition, parts of speech are added to the card.
