Browsing by Curriculum
When you log in to BrainPOP (3-8+) or BrainPOP Jr., look for the Browse by Curriculum tool. Depending on your screen size (such as a desktop vs. mobile browser) it will appear in the right or left section of your homepage.
- Depending on what you're teaching, choose Science or ELA
- Choose your core curriculum program from the Select a Program menu
- Choose the grade level you are teaching from the Grade Level menu
- Once you've chosen a program and grade level, your choices will be remembered the next time you use Browse by Curriculum
- Choose View Activities
You'll land on the Browse by Curriculum navigation page.
In the header tile, you will see the title of the program and level you are currently browsing within the program's sequence.
Below the header tile, the navigation page organizes the lesson sequence for the core program into tiles by Unit, Module, Lesson, Instructional Focus, Week, etc. (the naming will vary depending on the core program).
- Choose the left or right arrows in the header to advance or go back within the content level you are on: by grade, unit, module, lesson, etc.
- Choose a tile below the header and continue navigating to what you are planning to teach
When you arrive on the particular lesson you are teaching from the curriculum, you'll see BrainPOP or BrainPOP Jr. topics relevant to that lesson listed in the sidebar, and relevant activities from the topic that's currently selected featured in the main area:
To navigate the aligned topics and activities:
- Click a topic from the left sidebar to see relevant activities from that topic
- Click an activity card to preview and assign the activity
- To view all of the learning activities offered by that topic, and to preview of the concepts and state standards covered by the topic, choose More from this topic > below the activity cards
You'll find the topics organized into two categories, Build Background and Review Skills:
Build Background
In the Build Background category, you'll find topics that deepen and strengthen students' comprehension of the concepts covered by the curriculum.
Relevant topics will appear in the Build Background category for both ELA and Science curricula.
Review Skills
In the Review Skills category, you'll find topics that reinforce key ELA skills that support the concepts covered by the curriculum.

What does it mean if a curriculum tile says "Unavailable"?
Each curriculum tile will show the number of topics that support it — if a curriculum tile says "Unavailable," that means we weren't able to identify BrainPOP or BrainPOP Jr. topics aligned closely enough to the curriculum lesson to confidently support it.
If there are topics you'd like to see to support a particular lesson in your curriculum, we encourage you to let us know by sharing your feedback with us!
Why am I not seeing all of the activities for a topic that's aligned to my curriculum?
To make curriculum planning as quick and easy as possible using Browse by Curriculum, we focus on the most impactful activities a given topic offers when displaying activities that support lesson planning alongside a core curriculum, and keep it limited to no more than five.
To view all of the activities a topic offers (including creative tools like Make-a-Movie or Creative Coding) choose More from this topic > below the activity cards.
My school has a BrainPOP Science subscription. Why don't I see BrainPOP Science topics in Browse by Curriculum?
For now, only science topics in BrainPOP (3-8+) and BrainPOP Jr. are supported by core alignments in Browse by Curriculum.
While our BrainPOP Science Investigations and Individual Resources do support key concepts in popular middle school Science cores, we have not currently aligned BrainPOP Science to the curricula we support in the Browse by Curriculum tool.
BrainPOP Science uses the investigation model to develop scientific thinking and explore science concepts using the Claim, Evidence, Reasoning process, while science topics in BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr. use the movie and related activity model that BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr. are known for.
