Clever LMS Connect lets BrainPOP seamlessly integrate with a supported Learning Management System (LMS) to simplify the assignment, grading, and login experience for teachers and learners by syncing BrainPOP assignments to the LMS, along with their auto-graded scores.

Clever LMS Connect supports assignment and gradebook integration for BrainPOP's Clever districts that use Google Classroom, Canvas, or Schoology as their LMS.

Set up Clever LMS Connect

Set up Clever Rostering & SSO to BrainPOP

First, confirm that you have set up Clever integration with BrainPOP for your district for automated rostering and SSO, and that the BrainPOP app is added to your Clever applications.

Connect your LMS to Clever

Next, you'll need to set up your Clever LMS Connection in Clever:

In your Clever Admin Dashboard, choose LMS Connect from the navigation sidebar.
Choose "Connect your LMS" and then select the LMS system you are using: Canvas, Schoology, or Google Classroom.
Clever will begin preparing your data to connect your LMS. You'll see a progress bar in the bottom corner and you'll receive an email from Clever when the data is ready.
When ready, return to the LMS Connect page in the Clever Admin Dashboard and choose "Continue set up"
Follow the remaining prompts to authenticate your LMS connection (this will vary by the LMS you are using) and complete the LMS Connect setup.

Connect BrainPOP

You can send BrainPOP a request to set up LMS Connect from the Clever Admin Dashboard, or receive and approve an invitation from us.

Initiate the Connection from the Clever Dashboard

In your Clever Admin Dashboard, locate the BrainPOP app and choose "Connect this app"

Simply contact us here to request Clever LMS Connect setup! We'll check your existing Clever integration with us and send an invitation.

In the Clever Admin Dashboard, navigate to your Applications and choose the BrainPOP app. You'll see LMS Connect available. Choose "View Invite" to view and approve the invite.

Once the invitation is approved, Clever LMS Connect will finish matching the data between Clever, your LMS, and BrainPOP!

Additional Steps for Your LMS

Once the data matching is complete, you're almost ready to go! Depending on your LMS, there may be some additional steps required:

For Schoology, Clever requires that you add BrainPOP as an LTI SSO app using Clever LMS Connect's EdLink connection, so that BrainPOP can launch directly from Schoology for students.
For Canvas, Clever strongly recommends that you add BrainPOP as an LTI SSO app using Clever LMS Connect's EdLink connection, so that BrainPOP can launch directly from Canvas for students.
For Google Classroom, LTI SSO is not available. However, BrainPOP does support SSO integration with Google alongside Clever LMS Connect and we will gladly work with you to configure BrainPOP's SSO app in your Google Workspace.

Following those additional steps, your teachers and students are ready to begin using LMS Connect in their BrainPOP assignments!

Using Clever LMS Connect

When teachers create BrainPOP assignments for their Clever-rostered classes, they'll see the option to sync the assignment to the LMS, allowing them to focus on planning and teaching and saving them time by reducing double grade entry.

Once the assignment has been synced by the teacher, students in the class will see the assignment in the LMS with the assignment name, due date, total points possible for the assignment's auto-graded questions, and teacher instructions, along with an SSO link to the assignment in BrainPOP.

When students submit the assignment in BrainPOP, their grades will automatically appear in the teacher's LMS gradebook.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which BrainPOP apps do I need to add to Clever LMS Connect?

You'll only need to enable LMS Connect in the BrainPOP app! That app serves as a universal instant login app from the Clever Portal for all your subscribed BrainPOP products, and enables Clever LMS Connect.

Although you will not enable Clever LMS Connect through the BrainPOP Suite app, that app must also be launched, since it drives your roster sync between BrainPOP and Clever (without appearing in the Clever Portal for users).

Are there limitations on how BrainPOP assignments can be synced to our LMS using Clever LMS Connect?

It's worth keeping some limitations in mind when syncing BrainPOP assignments to your LMS using Clever LMS Connect:

Live assignments: To begin syncing an assignment to the LMS, the assignment must be live — not scheduled for a future date, or past the due date set by the teacher.
Clever classes vs. custom BrainPOP classes: Only assignments for classes rostered to BrainPOP by Clever can be synced to the LMS. (This includes classes synced using Clever Custom Data, but not custom classes created by teachers in BrainPOP.)
Auto-graded activities: At this time, only scores for auto-graded activities can be synced to the LMS gradebook using Clever LMS Connect. Assignments must contain at least one auto-graded activity to be synced to the LMS.
BrainPOP Science CER: In addition to auto-graded activities, the CER activity in BrainPOP Science Investigations can also be synced to the LMS gradebook using Clever LMS Connect.

Can my school use Clever LMS Connect with BrainPOP if we are a standalone school, not part of a district?

We are working on expanding BrainPOP's support for Clever LMS Connect to all standalone school subscribers using Clever with us, with support for some standalone schools already available depending on their Clever setup. Please contact your Customer Success Manager or reach out to Customer Support to ask whether you can take advantage of the feature now or be notified when it's available!

Can Clever LMS Connect be set up only for selected schools in my district?

If Clever LMS Connect is set up for your district, it will be available to all schools that have integrated BrainPOP with Clever.

Does Clever LMS Connect sync BrainPOP assignment grades to my SIS?

Not at this time. Clever LMS Connect only syncs assignment data between BrainPOP and the LMS.

Can Clever LMS Connect be used with BrainPOP for more than one LMS?

For now, Clever LMS Connect can only be configured with one LMS. Clever hopes to support multiple LMSs using Clever LMS Connect in the future, and as strong partners, BrainPOP will continue to develop our support for this feature alongside Clever.

Can BrainPOP support Clever LMS Connect if we use an LMS other than Canvas, Schoology, or Google Classroom?

Clever plans to support all major LMSs, and Clever LMS Connect is currently available for those used by most schools: Canvas, Schoology, and Google Classroom. BrainPOP will plan for Clever LMS Connect support in other LMSs in partnership with Clever.
